AAA Grade Libyan Desert Glass. Also known as Libyan Gold Tektite or Libyan Impact Glass, this rare natural glass comes from the Eastern Sahara Desert (Eastern Libya and Western Egypt). Formed around 29 million years ago by the intense heat of a meteorite impact or atmospheric explosion, this glass is created when sand and rock melted and cooled into a unique, smooth, translucent material. It ranges in color from pale yellow to greenish-yellow, shaped and weathered by desert winds.
